It was revealed that between June and July 2024, the PS Plus Extra subscription option lost 48 percent of its player base, despite appearing to have better games. According to TrueTrophies.com, even after Days of Play games in June 2024 were removed from the equation, an 18 percent player count decline continued to be seen in July. This makes July the lowest player count ever for PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium in 2024.
July 2024’s offerings gave players access to Remnant 2, the third-highest launch on the service this year. Of all the games available through PS Plus, Dave the Diver, which was released to players in April, continues to top the list. Due to significant player count decline, July is the weakest month since February 2024 and one of the weakest months for subscription this year alone. It’s surprising that July had such a low player count, especially considering that Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion was released alongside Remnant 2.
Remnant 2 was the best-performing game of the month, with Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion following close behind. On the other hand, there was a similar decrease of 69.05 percent in the number of people who devoted time to Final Fantasy between the two games. Other than these two games, the games available in July 2024 were pretty weak. Additionally, players also had access to games such as Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, Job Simulator, and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters.
