Instagram is adding a scheduling option to its Direct Message (DM) feature. Social Media Expert Lindsey Gamble revealed this feature and confirmed that it is offering this feature to all its users.
How Does Instagram Direct Message (DM) Scheduling Work?
To use the feature, simply press and hold the send button when you write a message on Instagram and you can choose a date and time. Messages can be scheduled up to 29 days in advance. You will see a banner like “x scheduled messages” until all scheduled messages are sent. This can be quite useful for scheduling birthday messages to a group of friends at once.
It is worth noting that Instagram introduced this DM scheduling feature before all users could pre-schedule posts and Reels. On the other hand, for now this feature is limited only to people who have set up a professional account.
Instagram is also rolling out several limited-time end-of-year features to help you celebrate the holidays and your 2024 memories. First, a collage tool for Stories with a year-end theme is coming. Additionally, there are multiple New Year-based Add You Too templates that you can use to encourage your friends to share photos of how 2024 begins/how 2024 ends. If you press the like button on End of Year Stories, you will see a special effect. A New Year font and Countdown text effect are also available for Stories, Reels and feed posts.
Finally, before the year is out, you’ll see little Easter eggs of sorts if you use specific emojis centered around celebrations or phrases like “Happy New Year” or “Hello 2025” in your DMs or notes.
