Google introduced its new flagship phones, the Pixel 8 series, in recent months. One of the most important innovations announced with these devices was software support. The company stated that it would provide software update support (both security and operating system) to the phones for 7 years and went ahead of other companies.
It was predicted that a similar move might come from Samsung. The company officially confirmed this at today’s Unpacked event.
Galaxy S24 will be offered 7 years of security and operating system updates
Samsung announced in its statements that it responded to Google’s move. According to the statement, on Galaxy S24 devices 7 years of security updates and 7 new operating system generations will be offered. So, they will receive updates until 2030 and Android 21.
Update support will be available on all Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra models. Samsung previously offered 4 years of Android and 5 years of security updates on its flagships.
