WhatsApp is making a few changes to the Channels feature, which it introduced to users in June 2023. WhatsApp channel administrators will now be able to interact with their followers in several new ways.
With the shared update, WhatsApp officially announced that Channels will receive a poll feature and audio updates. Mark Zuckerberg also explained the changes to his WhatsApp channel: “Hello everyone! We’re announcing a number of new features for WA channels, including voice notes, multiple admins, and sharing in statuses and polls…”
WhatsApp also shared in a Facebook post that Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny was the first to send an audio update to his followers on his Channel. This feature works like a regular voice note but offers a new way for admins to communicate with their followers.
Another functionality that WhatsApp now offers to everyone is surveys. It is stated that polls in channels can be limited to a single selection and the interface is similar to group and individual chats for poll sharing. Survey participants remain anonymous not only to other followers of the channel but also to its owner. WhatsApp Channels adds more admins to a Channel. Initially, there could only be one administrator, but now there can be up to 16 administrators. Administrators can be added via the “Invite Administrators” option accessible from the channel description page.
Finally, WhatsApp allows users to share Channel updates from their Status on WhatsApp. This will notify users about the latest updates released by the administrator. Thus, when a user clicks on the image or message shared on the Channel, he will be able to forward it to other users or share it to his personal status in the form of Stories via WhatsApp.
