A ransomware group named Mogilevich claims to have attacked the Epic Games platform and stole approximately 200 GB of data.
As first reported by Cyber Daily, the ransomware gang attacked Epic Games’ servers and stole large amounts of data including email, passwords, full name, payment information, source code, and more. It is even reported that the stolen data was offered for sale, but the price was not specified and the deadline was set as March 4.
Finally, Epic Games confirmed in a statement to Eurogamer that an investigation is ongoing, but the ransomware group stated that there is currently zero evidence that Mogilevich’s claims are true. The group also failed to provide evidence to Epic Games when asked. However, to be safe, it would be a good idea to change the password of your Epic Games account.
On the other hand, late last year, Insomniac Games was also hacked and all kinds of private data were exposed, such as the personal information of current and past employees, the source codes of multiple games, slides detailing future plans, and even the early structure of Marvel’s Wolverine.
