DJI is stepping into new territory with the Avinox Drive System for e-bikes. With Avinox, DJI claims to give riders the power to conquer even the most challenging terrains with ease with their commitment to technological innovation and uncompromising performance.
DJI Avinox Drive System Features
The palm-sized Avinox Drive System weighs just 2.52 kg but is still capable of delivering a powerful 105 Nm of torque. This will provide plenty of power when it is needed most, allowing drivers to seamlessly adapt to even the most challenging scenarios.
The compact internal layout of the gearbox with its innovative compound planetary gear set produces a high gear ratio in minimal space. This will allow for a revolutionary balance between Drive System size, weight and power output, providing both high torque and low weight for an Avinox-equipped bike.
The polymer material in the product is lightweight, wear-resistant and has high strength and durability. This material also significantly suppresses noise during high-speed operation of the gearbox for a surprisingly quiet driving experience.
Avinox Drive System has four driving assistance modes. These are: Auto, Eco, Trail and Turbo, and a special Boost mode for more challenging terrain. In Boost mode, drivers will be able to enjoy 120 Nm driving torque for a maximum of 30 seconds and a maximum instantaneous output of 1000 W. Thus, complex conditions can be overcome more easily.
In addition, parameters such as boost level, maximum torque, starting boost and continuous boost can be adjusted for each boost mode (except Boost mode) via the Avinox application, and changes can be instantly synchronized with the system.
Avinox is equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a wheel speed sensor. This provides smart walking support with various support modes. To activate this function, simply press and hold the down arrow button on the Left Wireless Remote in any driving mode.
Avinox offers two battery options: 600 Wh and 800 Wh. The batteries are lightweight and compact, helping to keep the overall bike weight low. Batteries have ultra-high energy density and large capacity. Thus, they can not only extend the range but also provide the power needed to adapt effortlessly to dynamic conditions. Both batteries have an IP56 protection rating and a battery health management system that supports self-discharge, real-time health assessments and alerts, and active voltage reduction. These help extend battery life.
Using GaN fast charging technology with a maximum speed of 508W, the 800Wh battery can be charged from 0 to 75% in approximately 1.5 hours. The fast charger is portable and can be easily carried in a frame bag.
Avinox features a 2-inch OLED full-color Control Display as the interactive hub, allowing connection between the unit and mobile device via the Avinox app. Screen brightness can reach up to 800 nits and can be adjusted automatically. The screen is dustproof, water-resistant and anti-glare, and even supports operation with wet fingers/hands. The screen remains clearly visible even in strong sunlight or heavy rain.
Amflow PL, which will be the first e-bike equipped with the DJI Avinox Drive System, is expected to be released in the 4th quarter. The price of the e-bike is estimated to be between 7,000-12,000 euros.
