Advanced Access Content System (AACS) encryption key ends regularly, which is a copyright protection technology that requires the adjustment of a key on both the disk and the console to play new movies. The switch is also available on PS4 and PS5 consoles, but the encryption key is automatically renewed according to the console guides. On the other hand, this renewal in PS3 needs to be made with a system update.
To download the update, let us note that there should be at least 200 MB free space in your PS3 hard drive drive (system update) or removable storage (update with PC).
About 10 years after its first release, PS3 production was stopped in 2017. As of March 2017, more than 87.4 million PS3 consoles were sold.
