WhatsApp has started testing the ability to create events in community group chats in its latest Android Beta. WABetaInfo states that the feature is available to a limited number of testers in Android 2.24.9.20 beta.
With the feature, an Event option is added to the panel. Eligible testers who are part of a WhatsApp community group chat can use it to create events for situations such as online meetings.
When creating a new event in the application, it is possible to add details such as date, time, location, as well as a link to a WhatsApp conversation. You will also have the opportunity to add a link for a video call or voice call to the event invitation.
Members in the community group chat will be able to accept the event invitation and will receive notifications about changes made by the event creator.
WhatsApp Communities feature allows you to bring together multiple topic-based or related groups. It is possible to create a community of up to 100 groups with up to 2,000 members in total. WhatsApp also automatically creates an Announcement group for each community, which admins can use to send messages to all community members.
