Apple's car key replacement feature was first announced in July 2020. The availability of unlocking vehicles using the Wallet application remained very limited. The scope of this feature, which until now was only available in some BMW, Hyundai and Kia branded cars, is expanding.

Apple expands car key app

Apple seems to have started work to expand the work of the car key application. In this context, the company has started to offer a new 'Car Keys Tests' application on the App Store.

According to the information received, the new Car Key Tests application has been added to the App Store recently. The app is currently distributed under Apple's developer account, but it's worth noting that it's currently unlisted. This means users cannot find the app through an App Store search or Apple's account page.

The app is currently only accessible via a direct link. The app appears to be rolling out for automakers to test integration with Apple's Car Key feature. Apple states that the app is available to auto companies to allow them to "test and verify" requirements during the key app's Made-For-iPhone certification process.

Apple aims to provide great convenience to its users with the Car Key application. The application, which works with the help of NFC, can be used to unlock the vehicle, as well as to start the engine and share the key with other people. Thus, the relatives of the owner of the car can also use it without the need for a key.

By adding the application to the App Store, Apple shows us that this process will accelerate in the near future. So what do you think about Apple's car key application?
